CLASS POLICIES
Class Cards: 6-class and 10-class cards may be purchased at any time during a session. The 6 class card is valid for 3 months and the 10 class card is valid for 4 months from the date of purchase. Each can be carried over into the next session. Class card may be purchased at the studio or online. Dropin class cards or class fees are listed here. Note: Lost, stolen, or missing cards cannot be replaced. In this case, students must purchase a new card or pay the drop-in fee for class. Also, cards will not be extended beyond their 3 or 4-month validation period for any reason, including vacations, accidents, illness, prenatal bed rest, or birth.
Fundamental and Primary Yoga Classes: In order to provide beginning students with a solid basis in yoga, to help create a building-block progression to the class each week, and to encourage students to develop confidence and familiarity with yoga, all Primary classes require pre-registration prior to the start of the session. Read our class description here.
New students are welcome to join any class during the session. We recommend registering for a class to reserve your place and to let the instructor know you will be attending. Read our class description here.
Pre-registration: Students are strongly recommended to pre-register for all other classes prior to the start of each session. You may drop-in to any class on the current schedule.
Classes and times may change after the 3rd week of each session at the discretion of the teacher. Please check the website for the current schedule.
Classes and Sessions: Since classes build progressively, students achieve optimal benefit by attending an entire session. They are encouraged to attend any class appropriate to their level on a weekly basis. If you plan to fluctuate between classes due to your work or school schedule, please register for each of those classes. Your class card will allow you to drop-in to alternate classes. Please always verify a class is open by checking with the instructor or our online schedule.
Student Questionnaire and Release: All students must fill out a questionnaire informing teacher of yoga experience, injuries, conditions, expectations, and must sign a release to participate in each class. The release will be valid for length of a students study at The Santosha School of Yoga.
Weather/Emergency Cancellations: The Santosha School of Yoga does not strictly follow the weather cancellation/delay policy of Carroll County Schools. In the event of weather conditions that prohibit safe travel to and from class, class will be cancelled at the teacher’s discretion. An announcement will be left on the School’s voicemail at least 1 hour before class. In the case of class cancellation due to illness of the instructor, regular students will be notified directly at least 1 hour prior to class and an announcement will be put on Santosha’s voice mail.
Winter weather and classes
For information about classes scheduled, call 410-857-0890 to listen for the latest announcements.
Information on closures and our Snow Policy: We will follow McDaniel and/or Carroll Community College cancellations or visit CBS Radio website to see the local school announcements. If Carroll County public schools close early, evening sessions will likely be cancelled. If schools are delayed in the morning, classes may run at teachers discrection. Call the studio to see if your class has been cancelled. Leave a message if unsure and we'll get back to you at our next opportunity. Please use your discretion when deciding to drive to class and leave a message for the instructor if you are unsure if class will be held.
Equipment: Students are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat to class each week. Mats are available at the studio whenever a student forgets his/her mat. Santosha also provides blocks, straps, and blankets. Note: We clean our mats after each class with Sol-U-Guard a Botanical formula that’s 99.99% effective against many bacteria. If you borrow a mat, please leave it out for the instrutor to clean. Our blankets are laundered every session with 'MelaPower' a non-alkaline, pH-balanced formula which does not contain chlorine bleach or caustic chemicals. If you are interested in purchasing our mat cleaner or laundry detergent, contact Lucy about all the home and personal care products available.
Cell Phones: Please keep cell phones silenced or turned off during class. In the event of an expected emergency call (Example: from babysitters or children) please keep phone at your side, set on vibrator mode or on lowest volume setting. During the 10-15 minute final relaxation, all cell phones MUST be turned off completely.
